Yorkshire Heritage Summit at Barnsley, 25 March
Our Society was pleased to exhibit at the Yorkshire Heritage Summit which took place on Wednesday afternoon 25th March. Our Society is a ‘Yorkshire Heritage Guardian’, part of the Yorkshire Society who organised the event.
Although it was a midweek event, it was well attended and there was a wide variety of societies and organisations who were exhibiting. It was a good opportunity to raise awareness of our Society and our publications, and also to learn of other organisations across Yorkshire. Groups new to us included one dedicated to Knurr and Spell, one group who had researched packhorse routes around Sheffield, and PLACE, founded in York in 2004 to research and document Yorkshire’s cultural and natural heritage.
Our new banner had its first ‘outing’, and new flyers had been printed to promote our Society. We hope that the Yorkshire Society might consider having future events at the weekend to enable more groups to attend.
