Many documents relating to Wakefield are held at the Brotherton Library at the University of Leeds including those transferred from the the Yorkshire Archaeological and Historical Society such as the Manor Court Rolls. Information about renewing library tickets, and access to the collections has been circulated by the YAHS:
Leeds University Library has a system whereby all library cards expire on 31st December. Those library cards are then reactivated once the library staff have had confirmation of the continuing eligibility of the cardholders in question. Having said this, due to coronavirus-related restrictions the main library has of course been closed to people who are neither university staff nor students for some time, with priority being given to students. This has also applied for some of the time to Special Collections. I understand that there may be some limited access to Special Collections in January through booking in advance, but this is not yet certain and I suspect may be subject to adjustment in the light of changing government regulations and advice.
Once Special Collections is able to re-open on a limited basis, advice on how to book will be on the website (see https://library.leeds.ac.uk/info/1504/using_collections/78/plan_a_visit/2). There is also a new ‘shopping basket’ option for requesting items. The library has also expanded their service to provide alternative access for researchers that can’t be accommodated and library staff are where possible taking photos for free (up to an hour of work), and also providing virtual consultations so that items can be viewed virtually.
