Gary Brannan, a member of our Society, and recently an archivist at West Yorkshire History Centre, delivers a talk about the importance of archives on YouTube. He is now the Keeper of Archives and Special Collections at the Borthwick Institute for Archives in York. His eloquent and enthusiastic talk highlights the importance of archives and how the material therein, such as the 14th century tale of the nun ‘Joan of Leeds’ can inspire people across so many fields. Looking into the future the development of scientific methods to examine records, and the use of digitisation will keep our history ‘live’ and relevant.
