The Gissing Centre was open for the January 25th Artwalk with a preview of the Westgate booklets which have been researched, written and produced by Wakefield Historical Society Research Group as part of their contribution to the Westgate Heritage Action Zone project. In addition the display ‘Local Writers through Time’ is still filling the display boards and so the room looked full of interest and colour. There was a steady influx of artwalkers into the house and many interesting chats taking place about the house, the Gissing family, the writers, the booklets and the Trust. It is gratifying to hear that we are attracting new visitors from Wakefield and the local area into one of its hidden corners.
