Information from Calderdale Industrial Museum Halifax:
The talk on 19th March will be by one of our volunteers talking about her life and work at Crossleys, and her current job in the same field of work at Avena Carpets. ‘Stamping my Feet for a Living: turning Art into Carpets‘
After Easter, on 21st May, Philip Hellawell will be returning to talk about ‘The Halifax High-level Railway – North Bridge to Parkinson Lane by steam train’. He mentioned this line briefly at his last talk to us in September 2024.
On 11th June, Julian Carr will be repeating his talk on ‘The Making of Sowerby Bridge‘. Unfortunately we had to turn some people away from this talk in late February as we ran out of space & chairs, so this will be a good opportunity to hear the talk at last!
All our talks are open to members of the public as well as members of the museum. Entry is at the yard door [not the door on Square Rd] and doors will open at 7pm. The talk will start at 7.30pm. The price for non members will be £5 on the door, so please bring your membership cards if possible. Tea & coffee will be available from 7pm for a donation.
