The ‘Sponsor a Box’ is now up and running, to help the John Goodchild Collection housed at the West Yorkshire History Centre be catalogued and preserved for the future.
Information from the West Yorkshire Archives:
John Goodchild was a local historian and antiquarian, he amassed this fabulous collection over his lifetime. It is believed to be one of the largest private collections relating to Yorkshire collected by a single individual.
We are appealing to the people to help us build on the work of the project by sponsoring a box. Money raised from the sponsorship will go towards the preservation, packaging, cataloguing and conservation work needed to ensure that the Collection is available and accessible for all.

Find out what is in some of the boxes from ‘What’s in the Box? – short videos on YouTube. WYAS wanted to give everyone the opportunity to take a peep into the world of the John Goodchild Collection. The ‘What’s in the box?’ series gives a snapshot of items contained in various boxes of the collection to highlight the rich and diverse nature of these unique records relating to the districts of Yorkshire.
