South Leeds Archaeology are proposing to start monthly Zoom meetings, just to keep in touch.
The first Zoom meeting will be on Wednesday 18th August, starting at 7.30 pm. The objectives for the chat will be two fold. First and foremost a chance to see each other and to chat but also to provide an update on the Birstall Project. They are planning to restart fieldwork on the bank holiday weekend 28,29,30 August and hopefully the following weekend 4,5 September.
Any archaeology project involves more than just the physical work. There are tasks for others to do both on-site and as part of the background research. As an example, at the moment they could do with a volunteer to look at census returns for the period the colliery was in use. Other research can be done using Google and other internet resources from the comfort of your arm chair.
