It is always encouraging to hear of new groups who are keen to discover the history of their locality.
The year 2020 was the 900th anniversary of the founding of Felkirk St Peter’s Church. As part of that noteworthy event, a team known as Felkirk 900, was formed to mark the event. Some members of this team subsequently decided to delve deeper into the history of this parish and thus started Felkirk Parish History Group.
The basic aim of the History Group is to gather and collate all information relating to the ecclesiastical parish of Felkirk. This is about the history of the villages and people in the district.
Felkirk Parish History Group has already collected information on over 30,000 local people dating back to ‘way back when’ and numerous photographs of people and places but have only scratched the surface of local history.
The group hope to make the research available to anyone who has an interest, including schools or community groups but it will be a long-term endeavour and will only work if they can convince people to ‘help out’ and spread the word!
