New book by Cyril Pearce “Communities of Resistance”

Cyril Pearce’s research on prisoners of conscience in World War 1, included the prisoners held at Wakefield, and he has given a number of talks locally.

His new book: ‘Communities of Resistance: Conscience and Dissent in Britain During the First World War.’ explores the history of more than forty communities across Britain who found ways to resist the war. It is a limited edition book which can be pre-ordered from the publishers:
