National Churches Trust Survey

We are fortunate in Wakefield to have our wonderful Cathedral, and historic chapels such as Westgate Chapel. But many of our chapels have been demolished or repurposed for housing. The fabric of many historic churches and chapels is deteriorating, and without community support may have to close.

The National Churches Survey sets out clearly the challenges that churches are facing, and also the opportunities for renewal. Without intervention the risks are high – we risk losing these buildings and all they embody – for good.
