The 50th Anniversary of the 1976 drought, and events in Wakefield: a discussion session led by Nathalie Holland
The situation was acute in West Yorkshire, and particularly so in Wakefield. Nathalie will bring copies of newspaper articles and other archival material from the time to inform the discussion. We will be talking about experiences of saving water and preparing for water rationing. We will also discuss what might be useful from the experience of 1976 for thinking about drought now and, more generally, what knowledge and skills around using water wisely we might value from the past.
