Information from South Leeds Archaeological Society

There was a a meeting on 20th July to discuss reviving South
Leeds Archaeology (SLA) as a functioning group, after the hiatus of the
COVID years. The meeting was very positive and there does seem to be a strong will to
revive SLA. We are hoping you will be part of that revival.

SLA is to continue with the old officers and has planned three meetings for
this autumn to be held at the old venue of the Rothwell Community Hub, but
starting at the new time of 7 pm …

Thursday 21 Sept.
Dave Russ, Jim Jackson to prepare a presentation on the Birstall digs and bring example finds etc

Thursday 19 Oct.
Phil Jones to talk on the Dig at the Iron Age site in Darrington near Pontefract.

Thursday 16 Nov.
Projects Night. To discuss possibilities for new projects and progress with
existing ones.

At the moment we are not asking for a subscription, so anyone can come
along and participate – though we may ask for contact details.

We are in the process of getting the facebook and web pages upto date, and
are planning a dig, starting on Sunday 27th August at the Birstall site. We are also
investigating a future project at Temple Newsome.
