In 1815 scientist Sir Humphrey Davy was called on to help save the lives of coal miners who were losing their lives in explosions underground. Find out about the ‘safe lamp’ that Davy invented and discover how innovators improved the lamp over the next 150 years. The lamp has come to be an iconic symbol of the mining industry.
