‘Breaking the News’ at Leeds Central Library

Leeds Central library are holding a series of events to do with the news, and how it is presented. Of interest to historians is the following event:

 

19th Century Investigative Journalism and Sensationalism 

Leeds Central Library, 23 March 12.30pm 

Discover more about the history of undercover journalism and the 19th century press in this panel event. Talks will include:

Britain’s First Undercover Journalists – Dr. Stephen Donovan, Uppsala University, Sweden 

The Wilde Scandal: Concealing and Revealing the ‘Shocking Truth’ – Professor Ruth Robbins, Leeds Beckett University
