Last year there was publicity in the newspapers and on BBC television about Eamonn O”Keeffe’s research into Lupset farmer Matthew Tomlinson’s attitude to homosexuality, expressed on 14th January 1810 in the first extant volume of his diary. His research has now been published as an article in the journal ‘Historical Research’. Eamonn’s thorough research sets the passage in the context of the rest of the diary, and in context of the times. In light of the publicity around the article and it being LGBT history month, the ‘Historical Research’ journal have decided to make it downloadable for free for the next 30 days.
