As part of a research project linked to H M Factory Gretna (the ‘ greatest munitions factory in the world ‘ WW1) a researcher has uncovered the story of Harry Ainsworth who grew up at various addresses in the centre of Wakefield. Her research is now live in the Devils Porridge Museum website which is part of The Miracle Workers Project.
Having grown up in Wakefield, Harry Ainsworth was employed at the Gretna munitions factory as a fitter, but in 1918 was charged with having defrauded the Ministry of Munitions of the sum of 14s 6d.
