A new home for Sandal Castle!

A new home for Sandal Castle!

Wakefield Historical Society was contacted by Mike Faulkner who was hoping to find a new home for the model of Sandal Castle that he had made. Kathryn Harrison at Sandal Library was contacted, and the model was handed over on Tuesday 6th May. Mike confirmed he based the design on plans in Lawrence Butler’s ‘Sandal Castle: The History and Archaeology of a Medieval Castle’, a book published by our Society in 1991.

Apart from the interest it will gather in this venue so close to the castle itself, the careful detail in the model will make it an excellent teaching aid. We are very grateful to Mike Faulkner for contacting us, and delighted that our Society has enabled the model to find the ideal home.
